Grade 5’s big focus in IT this year has been learning to code. We have used various apps and web based applications such as Scratch and it is clear our students are not only enjoying the experience, they are learning lots, too!
This week we have taken a break from coding in order to experiment with the Toca Boca series of apps ahead of our visit from the app developers tomorrow (December 4th). It is immediately interesting to note how engaged the students are in the creation process with the Toca Boca apps, despite the market user group being younger than the grade 5 students. We have discussed what the engaging features are and we hope to be able to share some feedback with the developers tomorrow.
We are very lucky at SIS to have this visit that has aim of showing what it is like to work as an app developer and to experience the early stages of the app design process.
Grade 5 have been talking about the visit for the last few weeks, and the excitement is definitely growing! You can follow and interact with tomorrow’s events by following the hashtag #sistocaboca on Twitter from 12:45pm tomorrow.
